The God-inspired vision of Director Hugues Bastien, the support and active involvement among the 1500 Friends of COCINA and the efforts of the staff of Institution Univers have resulted in many significant accomplishments over the past 17 years.
We praise and thank God for the accomplishments and for plans that He has for Institution Univers, vocational education and the Univers Medical Center. The Board and the administrators in Ouanaminthe face many challenges in obtaining the substantially greater financial resources needed from COCINA and other sources in Haiti to support the growing enrollment in the school, the expansion of vocational education for adults, and the Univers Medical Center as a full-time primary care clinic staffed with Haitian professionals and support personnel. Student’s families pay for only about 25% of the actual costs for operating the school. Patients obtaining services at the clinic pay about one-half of the clinic’s operating costs. So lots of outside financial support is needed to sustain these very essential ministries.
On behalf of the Board of COCINA and the staff at the school and clinic in Ouanaminthe, I thank all financial contributors and mission team members for the incredible outpouring of Christian hope and love that you have given to the students in the school, the patients in the clinic and the Ouanaminthe community. Please pray for the students and staff in the school, the clinic staff and patients and the community of Ouanaminthe---where COCINA is seeking to bring Christ’s hope and love and make a difference in their quality of life and the future of the community.
